# Star-end Software License Agreement (SLA)

Version 2.1.0

(c) Star-end - All rights reserved

## Summary (not legally binding)

If you are a standard player or developer: You can use, share, and modify this software completely free of charge for non-commercial purposes, provided you give proper credit and keep modified versions under this same license.

If you are a business, commercial server host, or monetized network, you must obtain explicit prior written permission from Star-end before using or distributing this software for commercial purposes.

If you are building an addon or derivative project, you are fully permitted to achieve compatibility. However, you cannot directly duplicate our assets or code to redistribute it as your own.

## Overview

This Software License Agreement ("Agreement") governs the use, distribution, and modification of any software, binary, source code, or related materials provided by Star-end ("the Software").

This Agreement distinguishes between:
1. End Users (players and individuals)
2. Distributors (modpacks, bundles, or hosted platforms)

This Agreement applies globally to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Where local law conflicts with specific provisions of this Agreement, those provisions are modified only to the minimum extent required by law, and all other provisions remain in full force and effect.

## (I) Acceptance

(1, Acceptance of Terms) By downloading, installing, interacting with, or using the Software and its associated files, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use or access the Software.

(2, Contractual Obligation) The provisions contained within this Agreement constitute strict, legally binding obligations upon any individual or entity interacting with the Software.

## (II) End User & Amendment Terms

(3, Permitted Non-commercial Use) End Users are granted a free, non-exclusive license to use, share, and modify the Software for personal, educational, or non-commercial purposes, subject to the conditions in Section IV (Violations, Enforcements and Remedies).

(4, Conditions of Modification and Reuse) Any user who modifies, forks, or reuses elements of the Software must comply fully with the following conditions, unless explicit prior written permission is granted by Star-end:

- (4.1, Code Theft and Intellectual Property) Inspiration from the Software's code is permitted for compatibility. However, derivative projects or forks may not reuse or duplicate more than a third of the Software's raw codebase (measured by Lines of Code) to distribute a product replicating or replacing the Software's core functionality.

- (4.2, Commercial Restrictions) The Software and any of its modified variants must not be used, bundled, or deployed for direct commercial purposes, paid distribution, or gated monetization models without explicit permission from Star-end.

  - Commercial Use includes: Paid feature access, subscription-gated platforms, and direct revenue generation from distributing the Software.

  - Non-Commercial Exemptions: Content creators monetizing video gameplay streams, and server communities accepting donations strictly covering baseline hardware hosting costs are explicitly exempt from commercial classification.

- (4.3, Copyleft Same-License Obligation) Any distributed modified versions, forks, or sub-modules containing code derived from the Software must contain this exact agreement and be licensed globally under the Star-end Software License Agreement.

- (4.4, Author Attribution) Proper and visible credit must be given to Star-end within the documentation, repository credits, or user interface of any project using elements of the Software.

## (III) Distribution Protocols

(5, Standard Distribution) Distributors are permitted to include the Software within public modpacks, bundles, or platforms free of charge, provided that:

- The Software is loaded from official distribution sources without modification.

- The Software is not embedded or repackaged directly inside third-party binaries.

- The distribution bundle does not enforce artificial access restrictions or paywalls that conflict with Section 4.2 (Commercial Restrictions).

## (IV) Violations, Enforcements and Remedies

(6, Notice of Non-Compliance and Remediation Window) If an individual or entity is found to be violating the terms of this Agreement, Star-end may issue a formal written notice of non-compliance.

- The violating party is granted a strict period of seven (7) calendar days from the date of the notice to bring their ecosystem into full compliance.

- While the license may continue if compliance is met within this 7-day window, the violating party remains fully liable for any damages, unauthorized commercial revenue, or intellectual property infringement accumulated during the period of non-compliance.

(7, Material Breach and Termination Failure) Failure to achieve full compliance within seven (7) days of written notice, or any intentional attempt to bypass, strip, or mock the licensing attributes of the Software, constitutes an immediate and uncurable material breach. Upon breach, this Agreement terminates automatically, all rights granted to the violating party are permanently revoked, and Star-end reserves the absolute right to execute immediate platform DMCA takedowns, host-level interventions, and legal enforcement for statutory damages.

# (V) General Provisions and Disclaimers

(8, Disclaimer of Warranties) THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

(9, Severability) If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable under applicable jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, and the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
