 DATAPACK: RANDOM BLOCK DROPS
 (Minecraft 1.19.x, 1.20.x, 1.21.x, 26.1.x, 26.2, 26.3 snapshots)
 Version 2.2
============================================

WHAT IT DOES
------------
Every block you mine can drop almost anything in the game - completely
unrelated to the block you broke. The ODDS depend on
*which* block you break: dirt overwhelmingly gives junk, diamond ore
overwhelmingly gives good stuff. It's still technically possible to
mine dirt and get an elytra - it's just astronomically unlikely now.
Mine diamond ore and decent loot is closer to a coin flip.

Mobs are untouched: they still give their normal vanilla drops, nothing
extra.

On world join or /reload you'll see:
[Random Block Drops] Datapack loaded (v2.2).

LOOT POOL (367 items, 5 item-rarity classes)
-------------------------------------------
  COMMON (129 items on 1.20.2+, 127 on 1.19.x/1.20-1.20.1): basic
materials, cooked food, seeds, flowers, wool/dye/carpet in all 16
colors, planks and saplings for all 10 wood types (9 on
1.19.x/1.20-1.20.1, see VERSION COMPATIBILITY below), wood/stone
    tools.
UNCOMMON (152 items): nuggets, redstone components, furniture,
    concrete/terracotta/stained glass in all 16 colors, iron/gold
    tools, iron/chainmail armor.
RARE (59 items, 62 on 1.21+): ingots, diamond, bow, crossbow, shield,
beacon, ender chest, shulker box, mob heads, music discs, diamond
tools, gold/diamond armor, Trial Chambers items on 1.21+ (wind
    charge, breeze rod, trial key).
EPIC (16 items, 19 on 1.21+): netherite gear, totem of undying,
trident, shulker/nautilus shells, heart of the sea, heavy core,
mace and ominous trial key on 1.21+.
LEGENDARY (5 items): netherite ingot, elytra, dragon egg, nether
    star, enchanted golden apple.

BLOCK RARITY TIERS
-------------------------------------------
Every one of the 95 minable blocks belongs to one of 5 tiers based on
how hard it normally is to obtain in vanilla survival. Each tier uses
a different weight for the same 5 item classes above, so the pool of
possible drops never changes, only the odds of landing on each class:

Tier 1 - Dirt & Foliage (25 blocks): dirt, sand, gravel, clay, mud,
snow, ice, cactus, bamboo, all 10 leaf types, podzol, mycelium,
    rooted dirt, coarse dirt.
    -> ~59% common, ~39% uncommon, ~1.8% rare, ~0.05% epic,
       ~0.01% legendary (roughly 1 in 7,000)

Tier 2 - Stone & Wood (37 blocks): stone, cobblestone, deepslate,
    andesite/diorite/granite/tuff, sandstone types, terracotta,
netherrack, all 10 log types, glowstone, magma block, melon,
pumpkin, snow block, packed/blue ice, sponge, bone block.
    -> ~46% common, ~49% uncommon, ~4.5% rare, ~0.2% epic,
       ~0.02% legendary (roughly 1 in 5,500)

Tier 3 - Early Ores & Specials (25 blocks): coal, copper, iron,
redstone, lapis and quartz ore (+ deepslate variants), blackstone,
basalt, obsidian, dripstone, amethyst block, prismarine family,
sea lantern, shroomlight, moss block, nether/warped wart block.
    -> ~28% common, ~60% uncommon, ~11% rare, ~0.9% epic,
       ~0.08% legendary (roughly 1 in 1,190)

Tier 4 - Gold Tier (3 blocks): gold ore, deepslate gold ore,
    crying obsidian.
    -> ~17% common, ~48% uncommon, ~30% rare, ~4% epic,
       ~0.45% legendary (roughly 1 in 220)

Tier 5 - Diamond Tier (5 blocks): diamond ore, emerald ore,
ancient debris (+ deepslate diamond/emerald variants).
    -> ~9% common, ~31% uncommon, ~46% rare, ~12% epic,
       ~2% legendary (roughly 1 in 50)

BLOCKS: 1 random item guaranteed per break, from any of the 95 blocks
covered, weighted by that block's rarity tier above.
MOBS: normal vanilla drops only - no random loot.

TRADE-OFF
------------
Silk Touch does not protect anything - breaking any block, with or
without it, gives random loot.

ACHIEVEMENTS (21 total)

branching off the main "Random Block Drops" advancement:

  - Suited in Diamonds - get a full diamond armor set

                            and a Shulker Box

None of the criteria reference version-specific items (not cherry
wood, not Trial Chambers loot), so all 21 advancements load
identically across the root pack and all four overlays. The icon
format itself does differ by version (see CHANGELOG 2.1 and VERSION
COMPATIBILITY below): pre-1.20.5 tiers use the legacy icon key,
1.20.5-and-up tiers use the modern one, and the custom tab shows up
correctly on every tier as a result.

INSTALLATION
------------
1. Delete any previous version of the "random_block_drops" folder from
   .minecraft/saves/<world>/datapacks/
2. Copy this new folder there.
3. /datapack list (should show up in green)
4. /reload

VERSION COMPATIBILITY
-------------------------
Verified programmatically (against the game's real item/block/entity
registries) on: 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6,
1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.11,
and 26.1. 26.2's changelog was reviewed and doesn't touch anything this
pack uses, but it wasn't verified item-by-item.

26.3 (in pre-release testing as of this build - still not a full
release) was reviewed again for 2.2: nothing in its changelog renames
or removes any item this pack references, so the root pack loads
cleanly under it with no extra overlay needed - the existing
"format_1_21_5_plus/" ceiling (format 71-999) already covers it. 26.3
itself adds new craftable content (poplar wood, wool and concrete
stairs/slabs, cushions, straw beds) that would fit this pack's loot
pool nicely, but none of it has been added yet: item IDs can still
change before 26.3 leaves testing, and baking in a name that gets
renamed before release would break loading. Ask for a 2.3 once 26.3
is fully released if you want those folded into the pool.

Uses pack.mcmeta overlays, five tiers total:
  - Root folder: 1.19 - 1.19.4 and 1.20 - 1.20.1 (data pack_format
10-17, plural loot_tables/advancements/tags folders). This is the
only tier without overlay support in-game, so it's also the
fallback every other tier falls back to if its own overlay
doesn't apply. Cherry wood (planks + sapling) is left out here
since it didn't exist before 1.20 - see the CHERRY WOOD note
below. Advancement icons use the legacy "item" key (pre-1.20.5
    item format).
  - "format_1_20_2_plus/": 1.20.2 - 1.20.4 (format 18-40, same plural
folder layout as root). Identical to the root pool but with
cherry wood restored, since these versions do support overlays
and do have the block. Still on the legacy "item" icon key, same
    as root.
  - "format_1_20_5_plus/": 1.20.5 - 1.20.6 (format 41-44, same plural
folder layout). Same pool as the previous tier; switches to the
modern "id" icon key introduced by the 1.20.5 item-component
    rework.
  - "format_1_21_plus/": 1.21 - 1.21.4 (format 45-70, singular
loot_table/advancement/tags folders, adds Trial Chambers loot on
top of the format_1_20_2_plus pool, modern "id" icon key).
  - "format_1_21_5_plus/": 1.21.5 and up, including 26.x (format
71-999, same folder layout as the previous tier, only the
advancement background path syntax differs - see CHANGELOG
    below).

CHERRY WOOD NOTE
-------------------------
Cherry Wood was added in 1.20, so cherry_planks and cherry_sapling
can't appear in the loot pool on any version older than that without
breaking loot table loading entirely (an unknown item ID in a loot
table is a hard error, not a silent skip). Since 1.19.x and plain
1.20/1.20.1 can't use pack.mcmeta overlays at all (that feature only
arrived in 1.20.2), those two get a pool with 9 wood types instead of
10 - everywhere else (1.20.2 onward) keeps the full 10. This only
affects 2 items out of the whole pool and only on two now-superseded
patch versions, so it was the one deliberate trade-off made to bring
1.19.x support in without a second datapack download.

MOBS - normal drops only, no overrides at all
-------------------------------------------
This pack doesn't ship loot_table files for any mob. With nothing
defined, Minecraft simply falls back to real vanilla loot for every
mob - no need to keep a hand-maintained copy of Mojang's tables in
sync release after release. It also means this pack won't clobber a
custom mob loot table from another datapack running alongside it (e.g.
a boss fight built on top of a vanilla mob type) - if this pack loaded
after such a datapack and shipped its own copy of that mob's loot
table, it would silently reset it back to vanilla.

"warden" is left alone the same way - simply by not having a file for
it, same as every other mob.

CHANGELOG - 2.2
------------
- Fixed a bug present since block rarity tiers were introduced in
  2.0: all 25 Tier 3 blocks (coal/iron/redstone/lapis/quartz ore,
blackstone, basalt, obsidian, dripstone, amethyst block, prismarine
family, sea lantern, shroomlight, moss block, nether/warped wart
block) gave common and rare items the exact same drop weight, so a
diamond sword or a beacon was exactly as likely as a stick when
mining those blocks. Common and rare are now properly separated
again (see the updated Tier 3 odds above) across the root pack and
  all four overlays.
- Fixed the root advancement's icon carrying a redundant "count": 1
field on the three modern-icon tiers - harmless, but inconsistent
with every other advancement in the pack.
- Corrected this README: the achievement intro still called the root
advancement "Random Block Drops Activated", a name that was
actually dropped back in 2.1. Also moved "mace" from the RARE
bullet to the EPIC bullet to match how it's actually weighted in
the loot tables (it was always epic-tier in the data, just
  mislabeled here).
- Removed a stale, duplicated CHANGELOG - 2.1 entry left over from
  drafting that release.
- Optimization: stripped the redundant "add": false field from every
set_count loot function (18,145 occurrences across all five tiers).
It's the game's own default for that field, so this only trims file
  size with no gameplay effect.
- 3 new achievements: Shell Shocked (obtain a Shulker Shell), Chain
Reaction (obtain a full chainmail armor set), and Vault Keeper
(obtain a Beacon, a Conduit, an Ender Chest and a Shulker Box).
Like every other achievement in the pack, none of these reference
version-specific items, so all three load identically on every
  tier.
- Re-checked 26.3: it's now in pre-release testing but still not a
full release, so the policy from 2.1 still applies - no new items
  folded into the pool yet.
- Bumped the in-game load message to v2.2 in all five tiers.

CHANGELOG - 2.1
------------
- Added 1.19.x support (1.19 - 1.19.4, data pack_format 10-12) by
extending the root pack's floor downward.
- New "format_1_20_2_plus/" overlay tier (format 18-40) so 1.20.2 -
1.20.4 keep the full cherry-wood-included pool even though the root
pack no longer includes it (see CHERRY WOOD NOTE above).
- New "format_1_20_5_plus/" overlay tier (format 41-44) for 1.20.5 -
1.20.6, using the modern item-component icon format that release
  introduced.
- Advancement icons on the root pack and "format_1_20_2_plus/" use
the legacy "item" key required by every version before 1.20.5, so
the custom advancement tab displays correctly across the full
  1.19.x - 1.20.4 range.
- Reviewed the 26.3 snapshot changelogs (format 108-116 so far) -
no breaking changes for this pack, no overlay changes needed since
"format_1_21_5_plus/"'s open-ended ceiling already covers it.
- Description and supported-version range updated across pack.mcmeta
and this README to reflect 1.19.x through 26.3.
- Bumped the in-game load message to v2.1 in all five tiers.

CHANGELOG - 2.0
------------
- Block rarity tiers: drop odds now scale with how rare the block
itself is (see BLOCK RARITY TIERS above). Previously every block had
  identical odds.
- Removed all mob loot table overrides. A few of them (witch,
wither_skeleton, rabbit, guardian, shulker) were incomplete compared
to real vanilla data and were silently under-dropping. Mobs now fall
through to vanilla loot with nothing in the way.
- Fixed the advancement tab's background: it was missing a background
texture entirely on some versions, and using the wrong path syntax
on 1.21.5+ (that release dropped the "textures/" prefix and ".png"
suffix from the field). Now correct across the root pack and both
  overlays.
- 8 new advancements: Full Metal Jacket, Midas Touch, Diamond Tool
Kit, Netherite Tool Kit, Skull Collector, Greatest Hits, Ancient
  Knowledge, Davy Jones' Locker.
- Removed the "Sky's the Limit" (obtain an Elytra) advancement.
