 DATAPACK: RANDOM BLOCK DROPS
 (Minecraft 1.20.x, 1.21.x, 26.1.x, 26.2)
 Version 2.0
============================================

WHAT IT DOES
------------
Every block you mine can drop almost anything in the game - completely
unrelated to the block you broke. The ODDS depend on
*which* block you break: dirt overwhelmingly gives junk, diamond ore
overwhelmingly gives good stuff. It's still technically possible to
mine dirt and get an elytra - it's just astronomically unlikely now.
Mine diamond ore and decent loot is closer to a coin flip.

Mobs are untouched: they still give their normal vanilla drops, nothing
extra.

On world join or /reload you'll see:
  [Random Block Drops] Datapack loaded (v2.0).

BLOCK RARITY TIERS
-------------------------------------------
Every one of the 95 minable blocks belongs to one of 5 tiers based on
how hard it normally is to obtain in vanilla survival. Each tier uses
a different weight for the same 5 item classes above, so the pool of
possible drops never changes, only the odds of landing on each class:

  Tier 1 - Dirt & Foliage (25 blocks): dirt, sand, gravel, clay, mud,
    snow, ice, cactus, bamboo, all 10 leaf types, podzol, mycelium,
    rooted dirt, coarse dirt.
    -> ~59% common, ~39% uncommon, ~1.8% rare, ~0.05% epic,
       ~0.01% legendary (roughly 1 in 7,000)

  Tier 2 - Stone & Wood (37 blocks): stone, cobblestone, deepslate,
    andesite/diorite/granite/tuff, sandstone types, terracotta,
    netherrack, all 10 log types, glowstone, magma block, melon,
    pumpkin, snow block, packed/blue ice, sponge, bone block.
    -> ~46% common, ~49% uncommon, ~4.5% rare, ~0.2% epic,
       ~0.02% legendary (roughly 1 in 5,500)

  Tier 3 - Early Ores & Specials (25 blocks): coal, copper, iron,
    redstone, lapis and quartz ore (+ deepslate variants), blackstone,
    basalt, obsidian, dripstone, amethyst block, prismarine family,
    sea lantern, shroomlight, moss block, nether/warped wart block.
    -> ~30% common, ~55% uncommon, ~14% rare, ~1% epic,
       ~0.08% legendary (roughly 1 in 1,300)

  Tier 4 - Gold Tier (3 blocks): gold ore, deepslate gold ore,
    crying obsidian.
    -> ~17% common, ~48% uncommon, ~30% rare, ~4% epic,
       ~0.45% legendary (roughly 1 in 220)

  Tier 5 - Diamond Tier (5 blocks): diamond ore, emerald ore,
    ancient debris (+ deepslate diamond/emerald variants).
    -> ~9% common, ~31% uncommon, ~46% rare, ~12% epic,
       ~2% legendary (roughly 1 in 50)

BLOCKS: 1 random item guaranteed per break, from any of the 95 blocks
  covered, weighted by that block's rarity tier above.
MOBS: normal vanilla drops only - no random loot.

TRADE-OFF
------------
Silk Touch does not protect anything - breaking any block, with or
without it, gives random loot.

overlays.

INSTALLATION
------------
1. Delete any previous version of the "random_block_drops" folder from
   .minecraft/saves/<world>/datapacks/
2. Copy this new folder there.
3. /datapack list (should show up in green)
4. /reload

VERSION COMPATIBILITY
-------------------------
Verified programmatically (against the game's real item/block/entity
registries) on: 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6,
1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.11,
and 26.1. 26.2's changelog was reviewed and doesn't touch anything this
pack uses, but it wasn't verified item-by-item.

Uses pack.mcmeta overlays: the root folder targets 1.20 - 1.20.6 (data
pack_format 15-44), "format_1_21_plus/" covers 1.21 - 1.21.4 (format
45-70, singular loot_table/advancement/tags folders, no Trial Chambers
in the root pool), and "format_1_21_5_plus/" covers 1.21.5 and up
(format 71-999, same folder layout as the previous one, only the
advancement background path syntax differs - see CHANGELOG below).

MOBS - normal drops only, no overrides at all
-------------------------------------------
This pack doesn't ship loot_table files for any mob. With nothing
defined, Minecraft simply falls back to real vanilla loot for every
mob - no need to keep a hand-maintained copy of Mojang's tables in
sync release after release. It also means this pack won't clobber a
custom mob loot table from another datapack running alongside it (e.g.
a boss fight built on top of a vanilla mob type) - if this pack loaded
after such a datapack and shipped its own copy of that mob's loot
table, it would silently reset it back to vanilla.

"warden" is left alone the same way - simply by not having a file for
it, same as every other mob.

CHANGELOG - 2.0
------------
- Block rarity tiers: drop odds now scale with how rare the block
  itself is (see BLOCK RARITY TIERS above). Previously every block had
  identical odds.
- Removed all mob loot table overrides. A few of them (witch,
  wither_skeleton, rabbit, guardian, shulker) were incomplete compared
  to real vanilla data and were silently under-dropping. Mobs now fall
  through to vanilla loot with nothing in the way.
- Fixed the advancement tab's background: it was missing a background
  texture entirely on some versions, and using the wrong path syntax
  on 1.21.5+ (that release dropped the "textures/" prefix and ".png"
  suffix from the field). Now correct across the root pack and both
  overlays.
- 8 new advancements: Full Metal Jacket, Midas Touch, Diamond Tool
  Kit, Netherite Tool Kit, Skull Collector, Greatest Hits, Ancient
  Knowledge, Davy Jones' Locker.
- Removed the "Sky's the Limit" (obtain an Elytra) advancement.
