 DATAPACK: RANDOM BLOCK DROPS
 (Minecraft 1.19.x, 1.20.x, 1.21.x, 26.1.x, 26.2, 26.3)
 Version 2.3
============================================

WHAT IT DOES
------------
Every block you mine can drop almost anything in the game - completely
unrelated to the block you broke. The ODDS depend on
*which* block you break: dirt overwhelmingly gives junk, diamond ore
overwhelmingly gives good stuff. It's still technically possible to
mine dirt and get an elytra - it's just astronomically unlikely now.
Mine diamond ore and decent loot is closer to a coin flip.

Mobs are untouched: they still give their normal vanilla drops, nothing
extra.

On world join or /reload you'll see:
[Random Block Drops] Datapack loaded (v2.3).

LOOT POOL (5 item-rarity classes; 359 items on 1.19.x - 1.20.1, 361 on
1.20.2 - 1.20.6, 367 on 1.21 - 26.2, 452 on 26.3+)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  COMMON (129 items on 1.20.2+, 127 on 1.19.x/1.20-1.20.1, 182 on
26.3+): basic materials, cooked food, seeds, flowers, wool/dye/carpet
in all 16 colors, planks and saplings for all 10 wood types (9 on
1.19.x/1.20-1.20.1, 11 on 26.3+, see VERSION COMPATIBILITY below),
    wood/stone tools.
UNCOMMON (152 items, 184 on 26.3+): nuggets, redstone components,
furniture, concrete/terracotta/stained glass in all 16 colors,
    iron/gold tools, iron/chainmail armor.
RARE (59 items, 62 on 1.21+): ingots, diamond, bow, crossbow, shield,
beacon, ender chest, shulker box, mob heads, music discs, diamond
tools, gold/diamond armor, Trial Chambers items on 1.21+ (wind
    charge, breeze rod, trial key).
EPIC (16 items, 19 on 1.21+): netherite gear, totem of undying,
trident, shulker/nautilus shells, heart of the sea, heavy core,
mace and ominous trial key on 1.21+.
LEGENDARY (5 items): netherite ingot, elytra, dragon egg, nether
    star, enchanted golden apple.

26.3 doesn't touch RARE/EPIC/LEGENDARY - all 85 new items it adds are
COMMON (53) or UNCOMMON (32). See "26.3 ADDITIONS" below for the full
list and the updated per-tier odds that come with a bigger pool.

26.3 ADDITIONS (Wilderness Bound, format_26_3_plus tier only)
---------------------------------------------------------------
26.3 shipped September 15, 2026 with item IDs locked in, so these are
now folded into the pool - but ONLY on the format_26_3_plus tier
(format 121+). Older 1.21.5 - 26.2 worlds keep the original 367-item
pool untouched, since these item IDs don't exist there.

  New COMMON items (53):
    - Poplar planks and Poplar sapling, joining the other 10 wood
types' planks/saplings (see CHERRY WOOD NOTE for why this
pack only ever adds planks + sapling per wood type, never the
      full block set).
    - Red Shrub, Shelf Mushroom, Straw Bed.
    - Wool Stairs and Wool Slab in all 16 colors (32 items), joining
Wool/Dye/Carpet as another coat of paint on the same base
      material.
  New UNCOMMON items (32):
    - Concrete Stairs and Concrete Slab in all 16 colors, joining
Concrete/Terracotta/Stained Glass at the same tier as
      Concrete itself.
New COMMON non-mob-entity items (16, counted in the 53 above):
    - Cushions in all 16 colors (placed as a sittable entity, but
obtained/dropped as a normal item like everything else here).

New minable blocks, 26.3+ only (4, see BLOCK RARITY TIERS below):
    - Red/Orange/Yellow Poplar Leaves (Tier 1 - Dirt & Foliage,
alongside the other 10 leaf types).
    - Poplar Log (Tier 2 - Stone & Wood, alongside the other 10 log
      types).

Poplar Wood, Poplar Shelf, Poplar's other block variants, and the new
Abandoned Camp explorer maps were deliberately left out - the pack has
always kept only planks + sapling per wood type, and structure-specific
maps carry NBT data this pack's flat item-list loot pool isn't built to
hold.

BLOCK RARITY TIERS
-------------------------------------------
Every one of the minable blocks belongs to one of 5 tiers based on
how hard it normally is to obtain in vanilla survival. Each tier uses
a different weight for the same 5 item classes above, so the pool of
possible drops never changes, only the odds of landing on each class.
Percentages below are for the 1.21 - 26.2 pool (367 items; the 1.19.x
and 1.20.x pools are a few items smaller, so their odds differ by
fractions of a percent); the 26.3+ pool is bigger (452 items, see 26.3
ADDITIONS above), so its odds are given separately after each tier.

  Tier 1 - Dirt & Foliage (25 blocks, 28 on 26.3+): dirt, sand, gravel,
clay, mud, snow, ice, cactus, bamboo, all 10 leaf types (13 on
26.3+, adds Red/Orange/Yellow Poplar Leaves), podzol, mycelium,
    rooted dirt, coarse dirt.
    -> ~59% common, ~39% uncommon, ~1.8% rare, ~0.05% epic,
       ~0.01% legendary (roughly 1 in 7,000)
    -> 26.3+: 62.9% common, 35.7% uncommon, 1.34% rare, 0.052%
       epic+legendary (roughly 1 in 1,930)

  Tier 2 - Stone & Wood (37 blocks, 38 on 26.3+): stone, cobblestone,
    deepslate, andesite/diorite/granite/tuff, sandstone types,
terracotta, netherrack, end stone, soul sand/soil, calcite,
crimson/warped nylium, all 10 log types (11 on 26.3+, adds Poplar
Log), glowstone, magma block, melon, pumpkin, snow block,
    packed/blue ice, sponge, bone block.
    -> ~46% common, ~49% uncommon, ~4.5% rare, ~0.2% epic,
       ~0.02% legendary (roughly 1 in 5,500)
    -> 26.3+: 50.5% common, 45.9% uncommon, 3.44% rare, 0.158% epic,
       0.014% legendary (legendary roughly 1 in 7,200)

Tier 3 - Early Ores & Specials (25 blocks): coal, copper, iron,
redstone, lapis, quartz and nether gold ore (+ deepslate
variants), blackstone, basalt, obsidian, dripstone, amethyst
block, prismarine family, sea lantern, shroomlight, moss block,
    nether/warped wart block.
    -> ~29% common, ~59% uncommon, ~11% rare, ~1.1% epic,
       ~0.08% legendary (roughly 1 in 1,200)
    -> 26.3+: 32.5% common, 57.5% uncommon, 9.13% rare, 0.848% epic,
       0.067% legendary (legendary roughly 1 in 1,490)

Tier 4 - Gold Tier (3 blocks): gold ore, deepslate gold ore,
    crying obsidian.
    -> ~17% common, ~48% uncommon, ~30% rare, ~4% epic,
       ~0.45% legendary (roughly 1 in 220)
    -> 26.3+: 20.8% common, 49.1% uncommon, 26.0% rare, 3.63% epic,
       0.38% legendary (legendary roughly 1 in 260)

Tier 5 - Diamond Tier (5 blocks): diamond ore, emerald ore,
ancient debris (+ deepslate diamond/emerald variants).
    -> ~9% common, ~31% uncommon, ~46% rare, ~12% epic,
       ~2% legendary (roughly 1 in 50)
    -> 26.3+: 11.3% common, 34.1% uncommon, 42.2% rare, 10.6% epic,
       1.86% legendary (legendary roughly 1 in 54)

The extra COMMON/UNCOMMON items on 26.3+ nudge every tier's odds a
little toward common/uncommon and away from rare/epic/legendary - the
new items are weighted the same per-item as their class always was,
there are just more of them now.

BLOCKS: 1 random item guaranteed per break, from any of the covered
blocks, weighted by that block's rarity tier above.
MOBS: normal vanilla drops only - no random loot.

TRADE-OFF
------------
Silk Touch does not protect anything - breaking any block, with or
without it, gives random loot.

  - Vault Keeper - obtain a Beacon, a Conduit, an Ender Chest
                            and a Shulker Box

Iron Tool Kit and Golden Tool Kit complete the pattern that already
existed for diamond and netherite: every armor-set achievement now has
a matching tool-set achievement branching off it. Like every other
achievement in the pack, neither references version-specific items, so
both load identically across the root pack and all six overlays.

None of the criteria reference version-specific items (not cherry
wood, not Trial Chambers loot, not 26.3's new blocks), so all 23
advancements load identically across the root pack and all six
overlays. The icon format itself does differ by version (see
CHANGELOG 2.1 and VERSION COMPATIBILITY below): pre-1.20.5 tiers use
the legacy icon key, 1.20.5-and-up tiers use the modern one, and the
custom tab shows up correctly on every tier as a result.

INSTALLATION
------------
1. Delete any previous version of the "random_block_drops" folder from
   .minecraft/saves/<world>/datapacks/
2. Copy this new zip (or the unzipped folder) there.
3. /datapack list (should show up in green)
4. /reload

VERSION COMPATIBILITY
-------------------------
Item and block IDs were checked against the game's own registries on:
1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6, 1.21, 1.21.1,
1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.2,
26.2 and 26.3. The JSON syntax of every loot table and advancement in
the format_26_2 and format_26_3_plus tiers was compared against the
vanilla data of 26.2 and 26.3, and the Wither Away / Against All Odds
kill condition was compared against vanilla's own Ender Dragon
advancement on 1.19.4, 1.20.1, 1.20.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.1, 1.21.4, 1.21.5,
1.21.11 and 26.1.

26.3 (Wilderness Bound) shipped as a full release on September 15,
2026 at data pack format 121.0, with the poplar wood set, wool
stairs/slabs, concrete stairs/slabs, straw beds, cushions, shelf
mushrooms and red shrubs all confirmed at their final item IDs. All of
that is now in the pool - see 26.3 ADDITIONS above - but only on a
dedicated overlay tier gated to format 121+ (see below), so that
1.21.5 - 26.2 worlds never see an item ID that doesn't exist for them.

Uses pack.mcmeta overlays, seven tiers total:
  - Root folder: 1.19 - 1.19.4 and 1.20 - 1.20.1 (data pack_format
10-17, plural loot_tables/advancements/tags folders). This is the
only tier without overlay support in-game, so it's also the
fallback every other tier falls back to if its own overlay
doesn't apply. Cherry wood (planks + sapling) is left out here
since it didn't exist before 1.20 - see the CHERRY WOOD note
below. Advancement icons use the legacy "item" key (pre-1.20.5
    item format).
  - "format_1_20_2_plus/": 1.20.2 - 1.20.4 (format 18-40, same plural
folder layout as root). Identical to the root pool but with
cherry wood restored, since these versions do support overlays
and do have the block. Still on the legacy "item" icon key, same
    as root.
  - "format_1_20_5_plus/": 1.20.5 - 1.20.6 (format 41-44, same plural
folder layout). Same pool as the previous tier; switches to the
modern "id" icon key introduced by the 1.20.5 item-component
    rework.
  - "format_1_21_plus/": 1.21 - 1.21.4 (format 45-70, singular
loot_table/advancement/tags folders, adds Trial Chambers loot on
top of the format_1_20_2_plus pool, modern "id" icon key).
  - "format_1_21_5_plus/": 1.21.5 through 26.1.x (format 71-101,
same folder layout as the previous tier, only the advancement
background path syntax differs - see CHANGELOG below). Same pool
as format_1_21_plus, nothing from 26.3 in here. Up to 2.2 this
tier had no ceiling (71-999) and also served 26.2 and later; 26.2
and 26.3 now have their own tiers (next entries).
  - "format_26_2/": 26.2 (format 102-110, new in 2.3; this also
covers 26.3 snapshots 1-3, which still use 26.2's syntax).
Identical to format_1_21_5_plus except for the kill condition of
Wither Away and Against All Odds: 26.2 renamed the "type" field of
entity predicates to "minecraft:entity_type" and started rejecting
unknown fields, so the 26.1-and-older syntax can't be used there.
  - "format_26_3_plus/": 26.3 (Wilderness Bound) and up (format
121-999). Same folder layout and icon key as format_1_21_5_plus,
with the 85 new 26.3 items folded into the pool - see 26.3
ADDITIONS above - and with the syntax 26.3 introduced: loot table
entries use "modifier" (was "functions") whose items carry "type"
(was "function"), and the Wither Away / Against All Odds kill
condition is a single predicate with "type" (was "condition").
This is now the tier that catches all future versions until
something in a later update actually breaks compatibility and
    needs its own overlay.

  Formats 111-120 (26.3 snapshots 4-10 and pre-releases 1-2) have no
tier on purpose: their syntax is 26.3's but the item pool wasn't
final yet. On those builds the pack loads but does nothing. 26.3
pre-release 3 and the release itself (format 121) are covered.

CHERRY WOOD NOTE
-------------------------
Cherry Wood was added in 1.20, so cherry_planks and cherry_sapling
can't appear in the loot pool on any version older than that without
breaking loot table loading entirely (an unknown item ID in a loot
table is a hard error, not a silent skip). Since 1.19.x and plain
1.20/1.20.1 can't use pack.mcmeta overlays at all (that feature only
arrived in 1.20.2), those two get a pool with 9 wood types instead of
10 - everywhere else (1.20.2 onward) keeps the full 10, and 26.3+
keeps 11 with Poplar added. This only affects 2 items out of the whole
pool and only on two now-superseded patch versions, so it was the one
deliberate trade-off made to bring 1.19.x support in without a second
datapack download.

MOBS - normal drops only, no overrides at all
-------------------------------------------
This pack doesn't ship loot_table files for any mob. With nothing
defined, Minecraft simply falls back to real vanilla loot for every
mob - no need to keep a hand-maintained copy of Mojang's tables in
sync release after release. It also means this pack won't clobber a
custom mob loot table from another datapack running alongside it (e.g.
a boss fight built on top of a vanilla mob type) - if this pack loaded
after such a datapack and shipped its own copy of that mob's loot
table, it would silently reset it back to vanilla.

"warden" is left alone the same way - simply by not having a file for
it, same as every other mob.

CHANGELOG - 2.3
------------
- Full support for 26.3 (Wilderness Bound), which shipped September
15, 2026 at data pack format 121.0. It needs its own overlay tier
because 26.3 rewrote the syntax of loot tables and advancement
  conditions:
    * New "format_26_3_plus/" overlay (format 121-999). Loot tables use
the new syntax: "functions" is now "modifier", and the
"function" field of each modifier is now "type". All 99 block
loot tables are written that way (452 entries each).
    * The 85 new 26.3 items are folded into the pool on this tier
only: Poplar planks/sapling, Red/Orange/Yellow Poplar Leaves,
Poplar Log, Wool Stairs/Slab and Concrete Stairs/Slab in all 16
colors, Cushions in all 16 colors, Straw Bed, Shelf Mushroom,
and Red Shrub - all COMMON or UNCOMMON. Pool goes from 367 to
452 items. See 26.3 ADDITIONS above for the full breakdown and
the updated per-tier odds. This follows the same safety rule the
pack has used since 2.1 for cherry wood and the modern icon key:
never ship an item ID to a version that doesn't have it.
- Fixed Wither Away and Against All Odds failing to load on 26.2 and
26.3, which could trigger 26.3's "Activate Safe Mode" prompt. 26.2
renamed the "type" field of entity predicates to
"minecraft:entity_type" and started rejecting unknown fields; 26.3
then changed the kill condition into a single predicate whose type
field is "type" instead of "condition". Both advancements now use
the exact syntax vanilla itself uses for its Ender Dragon
advancement on each version. 1.19.x - 26.1 keep the syntax vanilla
  uses there.
- New "format_26_2/" overlay (format 102-110) for 26.2, which needs
the new entity-predicate syntax above and so can't share a tier with
  1.21.5 - 26.1 any more. format_1_21_5_plus is narrowed from 71-999
down to 71-101 to make room, so 1.21.5 - 26.1 worlds are completely
unaffected. Builds in formats 111-120 (26.3 snapshots 4-10 and
pre-releases 1-2) have no tier on purpose - see VERSION
  COMPATIBILITY.
- 2 new achievements: Iron Tool Kit (branches off Full Metal Jacket)
and Golden Tool Kit (branches off Midas Touch), completing the
armor-set-to-tool-set pattern that Diamond Tool Kit and Netherite
Tool Kit already established. Added identically across the root
pack and all six overlays, same as every other achievement.
- README corrections: pool sizes per version (the old header said 367
  for every version from 1.19.x, but 1.19.x - 1.20.6 have 359-361),
the Tier 3 odds for the 1.21 - 26.2 pool, and a few block names
missing from the tier lists. The pack.mcmeta description no longer
says mobs drop random loot (they never have since 2.0).
- Bumped the in-game load message to v2.3 in all seven tiers.

CHANGELOG - 2.2
------------
- Fixed a bug present since block rarity tiers were introduced in
  2.0: all 25 Tier 3 blocks (coal/iron/redstone/lapis/quartz ore,
blackstone, basalt, obsidian, dripstone, amethyst block, prismarine
family, sea lantern, shroomlight, moss block, nether/warped wart
block) gave common and rare items the exact same drop weight, so a
diamond sword or a beacon was exactly as likely as a stick when
mining those blocks. Common and rare are now properly separated
again (see the updated Tier 3 odds above) across the root pack and
  all four overlays.
- Fixed the root advancement's icon carrying a redundant "count": 1
field on the three modern-icon tiers - harmless, but inconsistent
with every other advancement in the pack.
- Corrected this README: the achievement intro still called the root
advancement "Random Block Drops Activated", a name that was
actually dropped back in 2.1. Also moved "mace" from the RARE
bullet to the EPIC bullet to match how it's actually weighted in
the loot tables (it was always epic-tier in the data, just
  mislabeled here).
- Removed a stale, duplicated CHANGELOG - 2.1 entry left over from
  drafting that release.
- Optimization: stripped the redundant "add": false field from every
set_count loot function (18,145 occurrences across all five tiers).
It's the game's own default for that field, so this only trims file
  size with no gameplay effect.
- 3 new achievements: Shell Shocked (obtain a Shulker Shell), Chain
Reaction (obtain a full chainmail armor set), and Vault Keeper
(obtain a Beacon, a Conduit, an Ender Chest and a Shulker Box).
Like every other achievement in the pack, none of these reference
version-specific items, so all three load identically on every
  tier.
- Re-checked 26.3: it's now in pre-release testing but still not a
full release, so the policy from 2.1 still applies - no new items
  folded into the pool yet.
- Bumped the in-game load message to v2.2 in all five tiers.

CHANGELOG - 2.1
------------
- Added 1.19.x support (1.19 - 1.19.4, data pack_format 10-12) by
extending the root pack's floor downward.
- New "format_1_20_2_plus/" overlay tier (format 18-40) so 1.20.2 -
1.20.4 keep the full cherry-wood-included pool even though the root
pack no longer includes it (see CHERRY WOOD NOTE above).
- New "format_1_20_5_plus/" overlay tier (format 41-44) for 1.20.5 -
1.20.6, using the modern item-component icon format that release
  introduced.
- Advancement icons on the root pack and "format_1_20_2_plus/" use
the legacy "item" key required by every version before 1.20.5, so
the custom advancement tab displays correctly across the full
  1.19.x - 1.20.4 range.
- Reviewed the 26.3 snapshot changelogs (format 108-116 so far) -
no breaking changes for this pack, no overlay changes needed since
"format_1_21_5_plus/"'s open-ended ceiling already covers it.
- Description and supported-version range updated across pack.mcmeta
and this README to reflect 1.19.x through 26.3.
- Bumped the in-game load message to v2.1 in all five tiers.

CHANGELOG - 2.0
------------
- Block rarity tiers: drop odds now scale with how rare the block
itself is (see BLOCK RARITY TIERS above). Previously every block had
  identical odds.
- Removed all mob loot table overrides. A few of them (witch,
wither_skeleton, rabbit, guardian, shulker) were incomplete compared
to real vanilla data and were silently under-dropping. Mobs now fall
through to vanilla loot with nothing in the way.
- Fixed the advancement tab's background: it was missing a background
texture entirely on some versions, and using the wrong path syntax
on 1.21.5+ (that release dropped the "textures/" prefix and ".png"
suffix from the field). Now correct across the root pack and both
  overlays.
- 8 new advancements: Full Metal Jacket, Midas Touch, Diamond Tool
Kit, Netherite Tool Kit, Skull Collector, Greatest Hits, Ancient
  Knowledge, Davy Jones' Locker.
- Removed the "Sky's the Limit" (obtain an Elytra) advancement.
