DAP SHADERS
===========
by DAPTIME linktr.ee/DAPTIME

THIS ZIP IS THE SHADERPACK.
Drop it straight into your Minecraft "shaderpacks" folder and pick it in
Video Settings > Shaders. Nothing else is required.

    Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpacks
    macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/shaderpacks

WHICH BUILD DO I NEED?
  Minecraft 1.20 or newer  ->  "DAP Shaders <version> 1.20-26.2.zip"
  Minecraft 1.16 - 1.19    ->  "DAP Shaders <version> 1.16-1.19.zip"
Minecraft 1.15 or older -> not supported, sorry.

Pick the wrong one and the screen fills with moving warning stripes rather
  than rendering something subtly broken:
ORANGE stripes -> your game is newer than this build. Get the 1.20-26.2
                          build.
PURPLE stripes -> your game is older than this build. Get the 1.16-1.19
build - or, if you are on 1.15 or below, DAP does not
                          support your version.

Everything below is OPTIONAL extra, bundled in for convenience. Minecraft
ignores it - it does not affect the shaders at all.

OPTIONAL - DARK UI RESOURCE PACK
"DAP Shaders Dark UI.zip" -> your "resourcepacks" folder,
then enable it under Options > Resource Packs.

It darkens the container screens (inventory, chests, furnaces, and so on).
That is all it does - it is cosmetic and independent of the shaders.

OPTIONAL - ALWAYS DAY / ALWAYS NIGHT
  In the "presets" folder:
      DAP Always Day.txt
      DAP Always Night.txt

These lock the sky, sun or moon position and the lighting to permanent midday
or permanent midnight on YOUR screen. The server's time does not change, mobs
spawn on their normal schedule, and other players see the normal sky.

These are shader settings files, not resource packs, because a resource pack
cannot change the time of day - it can only swap textures. The shader is what
draws the sky, so the shader is what can pin it.

To use one: select DAP Shaders in game once so it writes its settings file,
quit Minecraft, then copy the preset into your shaderpacks folder and rename
it to match the shaderpack zip with .txt instead of .zip. Each file has the
  full instructions at the top.

You can also just switch it on in game: Time & Weather Override > Fixed Time
  of Day.

OPTIONAL - INSTALLER
If you would rather not move files by hand, extract this zip and run:
      DAP Shaders Installer.exe (Windows)
DAP Shaders Installer.command (macOS / Linux)

It copies the shaderpack and the Dark UI pack into every Minecraft it
finds. It downloads nothing and needs no admin rights.

  IF IT SAYS "ACCESS DENIED":
Almost always this means Minecraft or your launcher is still RUNNING and
is holding the file open - resource packs stay locked while the game is
open. Fully quit Minecraft and the launcher (CurseForge / Modrinth /
Prism), then run the installer again.

Only if EVERY copy failed is it Windows ransomware protection: Windows
Security > Virus & threat protection > Ransomware protection > "Allow an
app through Controlled folder access". If some copies worked, that is
    not the cause.

Re-running is safe: files that are already correct are left untouched.

The installer is not code-signed, so Windows may show "unknown publisher".
Nothing in it downloads, phones home, touches the registry, or launches
  other programs.

IN-GAME SETTINGS
Quality - Potato / Low / Medium / High / Ultra / MAX (start at Medium)
Sets how much work the shader does. MAX puts every graphics
option at its ceiling, including 20 chunks of shadow distance.
It is not a sensible default; it is "I have the GPU, show me
               everything".
  Preset - Custom / Vanilla / Skyblock / Bedwars / Hoplite /
               Minemen / Cinematic
Sets how the game LOOKS for a use case. Each one changes real
settings, so you will see other menu values move when you pick
               one. Custom leaves everything alone.

Both cycle on left AND right click.

Plus full menus for Lighting (including Light Levels and Auto Exposure),
Sky & Weather, Water, Materials & PBR, Colour & Style, Nether & End,
Movement & Animation, Camera & Anti-aliasing, and Time & Weather Override.

ABOUT RENDER DISTANCE
A shaderpack cannot change Minecraft's own render distance slider - no
shaderpack can. What DAP controls is how far its shadows, shading and
volumetric fog reach into the terrain the game has already drawn. That is the
"Shadow Distance" setting, up to 320 blocks (20 chunks) on MAX.

So for the longest shader draw distance, raise BOTH: Minecraft's render
distance in Video Settings, and Shadow Distance in the shader's Shadows menu.
Shadow Distance beyond your vanilla render distance does nothing useful.

ABOUT "80% WHITE"
With Light Levels on, blocks are lit in 16 discrete steps like vanilla light
levels, and the brightest step is capped so a sunlit block keeps its texture
instead of blowing out to flat white. "Brightest Level 0.80" means the top step
displays at 80% white, measured at the default Exposure and Brightness - change
those and the number shifts with them.

In a dark cave, auto exposure deliberately brightens the scene, so the
brightest surface there sits a few percent above the ceiling. That is intended:
it is what makes caves readable without a torch in hand.
